Sept 11 – Relaxing at the Plaza Pool

Written by Kim

We started the day with breakfast at Hash House a Go Go, a twisted farm house restaurant in the casino. This place was a bit crazy. We split a flapjack which was huge and a scramble. Food was very good and waitress was like the Energizer bunny. A good start to the day. If we go again I’m getting one of their fancy bloody Mary’s. Yolo!

Scrambled eggs with ham, spinach & cheddar. Homemade blueberry jam for the yummy biscuits. Potatoes were nice and crunchy.
Look at the size of that flapjack

We rented a cabana at the pool to relax. Actually there was no rent but just a minimum $ in drinks which was no problem for us. It wasn’t as fancy as the Bellagio but we enjoyed relaxing in the sun, having lunch inside our cabana and dipping in the pool. The sky was pretty hazy from the smoke of the California fires but we had a great day.

Today was the one year anniversary of my retirement. We spent some time reflecting about the past year. So much has happened. In the fall, we had our big 50 day Transpacific trip and are so grateful we got to see Australia and enjoy that trip. We enjoyed our last Christmas in our NJ home with family. In January, Alex golfed in Florida and I got to visit some good friends, Liz, Carol, Sally and my son, Stephen, his fiancé, Bethany and my new grand pup, Izzy. In February, we drove to Florida for a week at Hollywood Beach then a cruise. On our way home from Florida we stopped to see Stephen and Bethany’s new house. It was such a treat to see Stephen & Bethany every other week for a few weeks. We stopped in Myrtle to look at houses on our way north. We saw 4 houses and signed a contract on our new home (a bit unexpectedly) the day before NJ was locked down with Covid. It was a bit unsettling not knowing when we could list our house in NJ but decided to have faith all would work out and moved forward with the purchase of our new house. We closed on our new house in April and listed our NJ house in late May. We were so fortunate to sell our house in 2 days so the packing began which kept me quite busy during the lockdown. I did a good job giving lots of furniture and things we weren’t taking to SC to friends and on FB marketplace. We took a few trips to the new house to begin to set up before our final move in July. Nancie and Jake were our first visitors and we enjoyed their visit. My kids came in August so we all could celebrate their birthdays together. Jessica and Paul came for lunch during the World Am then we headed out to this Vegas trip. Wow. So much to recap. Thanks for your patience in reading. I like to use our blog partly to remember for ourselves how grateful we should be.

Before heading to dinner Alex hit a major which certainly helped our budget. A $536 hit on a $1 bet is a pretty good return. We celebrated a bit with a nice steak dinner at Oscar’s (sorry foodies no pictures – brain fart)

After dinner we joined Brian Christopher’s welcome party and mingled with some friends before gambling a bit. It was a later night for us but we snuck a short nap before dinner so could stay awake especially with Alex’s big win. Until tomorrow.
