October 18 – Local nature trail

Written by Kim

In our town there is a sports and park complex. It has a 10 acre lake and 25 acres that includes a bunch of soccer and baseball fields, nature trails and bike / walking paths. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon so we decided to check out the nature trail.

The loop we chose was 2 1/2 miles and is a flat path through the woods and around a sewage treatment plant. It was a little stinky right by the plant but mostly a very peaceful trail.

We were on the lookout for bears, bobcats, coyotes and wild hogs because there were several signs warning us to be careful but we only saw a few humans, some birds, a lizard or two and some spiders. Perhaps there is more wildlife we missed because we saw a solo man carrying a golf club either for defense or he had a very errant shot from a nearby golf course and was lost!

Our lizard friend
A big ass spider like most spiders down here. Lots of bugs to eat!

Our travel is very limited so we need to get out and enjoy some local adventures. This park is about 15 minutes from our house so we are sure to visit often maybe next time for a bike ride around the lake. Enjoy your Sunday the weather is glorious in fall.

Until next time….
