Day 8 – Halfway to Hawaii! (9/24/19)

(Written by Alex)

We have started to settle into a bit of a routine here on board with these consecutive sea days. The toughest part of the first three days has been the setting the clocks back an hour each day. We are constantly waking up at 3:30 or 4:30 am because we’ve gained three hours in three consecutive days. Clock changes are finished for a while now so we should be able to get adjusted in the next few days.

Our morning routine has settled into some exercise (track preferred), breakfast and the progressive trivia at 10:45. We are doing ok at the trivia but not winning. That’s ok, it’s lots of fun anyway! Today we had to leave right at the end of the questions because we had a bridge tour at 11:30. Seeing the bridge was pretty cool – I was surprised how roomy it was and how it just felt like a big lounge! We learned that this morning we passed the halfway point of our journey to Hawaii and that we are currently 1000 miles from any land.

After the tour and then lunch in the main dining room, we headed up to the pool for the first time this cruise. Temperatures have risen into the high 70sF, low 20sC and the sun was out. The band played and we enjoyed a cooler of beers – yes Bud Light – we would prefer Corona by the pool but no glass. I do like our pool time!

Today in the lounge we chatted with an interesting gentleman from Las Vegas, Max. He is a single cruiser and nearing Pinnacle. Lots of stories from him, but he kept violating my personal space (agggh!) and his flipping out hair made Kim crazy! 🤣

Dinner tonight was Japanese at Izumi. We did this as part of our 5-night specialty dining package. It was more food than any two humans can possibly consume, but it was yummy!

Too much food!!! 😳

After dinner we watched the Bon Jovi tribute band again. They were very good and lots of fun!

Until tomorrow… aloha! 👋🛳☀️
