Jan. 2022 – Florida Getaway from the cold

Written by Kim

I can’t believe it’s been 4 months since I’ve posted. Welcome back to all of our readers. We’ve missed sharing travel adventures with you. We’ve traveled a bit but it was all family trips to help mom in NJ with her recent knee replacement in NJ (she’s doing fantastic), then to Jax to babysit for Luke while mommy and daddy worked a bunch of hours, a few trips to Tennessee to see mom and dad (unfortunately Dad passed away on Black Friday), and Christmas visits to FL, NJ and PA to see all the kids and other family. No moss growing under us but trying to be careful with general travel. Alex brought Covid back from NJ on New Years but luckily had a mild case. I never tested because testing kits are so scarce but assume I had an asymptotic case as well. Anyhow, long story kind of short we decided to getaway to Florida a little earlier than original planned since an ice storm was headed toward Myrtle. We left on our journey around 8 am for our 11 hour drive to Palm Beach Shores (Singer Island) near Palm Beach Gardens.

We decided 2 days ago to leave early and found a last minute deal on an AirBnb one block from the beach. Prices are a bit crazy for accommodations in south Florida and availability is limited so we are only here till Monday then we will move on. More to come on that. Our apartment is really cute and will serve our purpose for some beach time.

The living area
A kitchen not that I plan to cook. Lol
Nice California King
Beach chairs & cooler – a nice bonus

We arrived around 7 pm and decided to walk around the corner for some dinner and drinks at Castaways. We found a nice restaurant with outside seating and live music. Of course we want to be outside it’s 72 degrees! We had some thin crust pizza and a few beers listening to the music

I forgot to take a pic before we started eating. You know me!

I ended the night with a chocolate martini as a treat. I know I shouldn’t – my sugar will be high but I needed a chocolate fix and it was delicious. Life is short – longer walk in am.

Good night for now….until tomorrow!

  1. Kim, Rod and I caught the Covid bug two weeks ago but it was such a mild case. Hope it was the three vaccines we had that helped. We cruise at the end of March but may travel to warmer parts before then. I hate winter so I understand your reluctance to stay in SC when it was cold. Enjoy your time in Florida and have a great cruise.
