Today we left Palm Beach Shores and drove north to Orlando. We didn’t want to just drive Interstate 95 so took the scenic route out to see Lake Okeechobee. What else are we doing – we’re truly retired now!

Lake Okeechobee also known as Florida’s Inland Sea, is the largest freshwater lake in the state of Florida. It is the eighth largest natural freshwater lake among the 50 states of the United States and the second-largest natural freshwater lake contained entirely within the contiguous 48 states. Okeechobee covers 730 square miles (1,900 km2) and is exceptionally shallow for a lake of its size, with an average depth of only 9 feet.
We decided to go to Top Golf to practice our golf a bit. It was crowded so we had lunch while we waited over an hour for a bay. It was fun and I even started hitting the hybrid a bit better. Yeah!
We checked into the Holiday Inn at Disney Springs and enjoyed our free happy hour drink before walking over to Disney Springs for dinner. It was busy but masks were required anywhere indoors which we were happy to see. Truth be told we would be happy for Covid to be done and not have to wear masks or see vending machines where they are selling masks but we are not there yet.
Dinner was at The Boathouse for some nice seafood. We started with oysters that were delicious but I forgot to take a pic of it! the good was delicious. The coconut shrimp was different than normal with very light breading and pineapple salsa. Yum!
We enjoyed walking around Disney Springs and sat for a while after dinner listening to a very good band at House of Blues. It was a bit chilly but under the heater it wasn’t too bad. The band was excellent. Many of you know I love David Bowie and as we walked up they began playing Space Oddity – no band plays that. It was a very Bowie day for me – at dinner we heard Young Americans and at breakfast we heard Let’s Dance. A good day!
Until tomorrow. Off to see Stephen, Luke and Bethany!
