Jan 2022 – Day 5 Back to Palm Beach Gardens

Written by Kim

We stopped for a few last snuggles with Luke prior to leaving Jacksonville to head back south. We played a bit and I got to feed Luke breakfast. He’s such a joy. Loves to eat and play.

Yummy yogurt, oatmeal and chia seeds.
He’s crazy fast in the walker racing back and forth.
Getting so tall

Our ride from Jacksonville (well really Middleburg where Stephen lives) to Palm Beach Gardens was a little over 4 hours. We stopped for a bathroom break at a Buc-Ee’s. What a place it’s like a supersized Wawa crossed with the Cracker Barrel store. It must have had 50 gas pumps and was larger than our supermarket by home.

All kinds of gifts organized by theme – beach, lake, southwest, etc.
Check out all those chips. They have fudge they make there, honey roasted nuts, bbq, pizza, sandwiches. All kinds of stuff.

We checked into the Embassy but the swans they used to have in the lobby are gone. Evidently they finally took them to an animal refuge. Happy hour is back but now they give you 2 drink tickets per night – no unlimited happy hour. We booked a reservation at Spoto’s Oyster Bar one of our favorite seafood places down here. We started with some oysters & vodka oyster shooters. Alex had tuna and I had cioppino. Everything was delicious.

Our nightcap – bourbon

Well we thought that was our nightcap at Spoto’s but stopped at Paddy Macs for a beer before heading back to the hotel. Then met up with Alex’s golf friends for a few drinks and laughs by the pool. Ended up being a bit of a late night but lots of fun!

Until tomorrow…,
