We were up and out early to get our car and beat the traffic to the road to Hana. We were on the 5 am tender (but both woke before our alarm will we ever adjust to the time). Got our car in the parking lot in town, grabbed a quick bit for breakfast at Mc Donald’s drive thru and made a quick stop for meds and to try to get a fit bit charger at Walmart when they opened at 6. No luck with the charger so my fit bit is dead for now but got meds to hopefully prevent Alex’s cold from getting worse
Road to Hana
So happy we were out before the crowds. Road to Hana was amazing. It is a 56 mile journey with 56 one lane bridges and over 300 S curves along the coast and rainforest of East Maui. Alex did all of the driving (of course) because my driving would have given him a heart attack. It was filled with beautiful waterfalls and scenery. We drove up to Oheo Pools and turned around to return. Took us most of the day. We have lots of pics but here’s a few to get the idea.
Lunch and snacks
We enjoyed some coconut shrimp at a roadside stand along the way and bought some more amazing banana bread this time with macadamia nuts. At the stand the girl told us about homemade pineapple coconut bread so we bought one of them too. Heck we’re on the ship another 20+ days maybe we won’t get enough food. Lol. We decided to have a hometown favorite, Jersey Mike’s, for lunch.
Evening back on board
Tendering back after we returned our car was a little simpler tonight. RCCL still doesn’t have the tendering very efficient but I resisted the temptation to put my process improvements hat on to provide suggestions since I’m retired now. We freshened up then hit the lounge to meet our new friends and share some laughs. Dinner tonight was Chops, the steakhouse, we both had the filet which was delicious. We called it an early night since Alex isn’t feeling 100%. I will play some Candy Crush before I crash.
Mahalo for another great day….. looking forward to the big island tomorrow. Our friend Jim’s daughter, Brooke, lives on the island so will be giving us a private tour!
Been there. Done that. There is something so magical about Maui. ❤️❤️
A cold requires comfort food, and what could provide more comfort than Jersey Mike’s Subs! Feel better Alex….
