Below is our itinerary for our train travel across Europe. You can find details of each day / segment in our blog in chronological order.
- Sept 18 – we left Newark on Polish Airlines en route to Warsaw
- Sept 19 – Sept 22 – stayed with our friends, Adam & Dominika, in Warsaw
- Sept 22 – Sept 24 – took train to Prague for a few days
- Sept 24 – 27 – train to Vienna for a few days in an interesting AirBnB
- Sept 27 – 29 – train to Munich for a quick stop at Oktoberfest – surprise meet up with an old friend
- Sept 29 – Oct 1 – train to Heidelberg for what we expected to be a quiet, restful weekend but turned out to be the largest annual festival similar to a small Oktoberfest
- Oct 1 – Oct 5 – train to Antwerp to see lots of friends. Alex’s first time in Antwerp – probably at least my 50th I haven’t counted
- Oct 5 – Oct 8 – train to Paris for a first time visit of the city. Welcomed by being pickpocketed on Metro to our AirBnB.
- Oct 8 – Oct 11 – Fly to Lisbon for a few days. It was actually a planned 2 day layover on TAP Portugal for reduced airfare.
- Oct 11 – our adventure is over fly back to JFK. Stay one night at Heather’s before driving home to Myrtle.

Some of our favorite highlights:
1. Warsaw – we loved Warsaw. It was such a clean, safe city. We did a self guided walking tour in Old Town and enjoyed a nice visit with our friends
2. Lisbon – another favorite – very hilly, great food, Portuguese people are very friendly. Spain / Portugal culture fits us well
3. Oktoberfest – it was our second time – beer beer and more party – it’s our vibe
4. Antwerp – so many friends, so little time.
