Day 32 – Relaxing sea day after fun in New Zealand (10/18/19)

Written by Kim

We are enjoying our last 2 sea days before we must disembark in Sydney and begin the last leg of our journey. We had a bit of a lazy day. Sat by the indoor pool and enjoyed the hot tub a bit. It wasn’t very crowded at all. It’s really cool, rainy and windy outside so all of the outer decks are closed. I don’t get it everyone is walking around in jeans, sweatshirts and some in puffer jackets. You’re inside people the temperature hasn’t changed. 😜😝. We are still in our bathing suits and shorts.

Happy 50th birthday Royal Caribbean!

This afternoon I went to the spa for a pedicure which cost nearly 3 times what I pay at home and wasn’t as good but my feet were getting unruly so must be done. Luckily, Alex won a bit in the casino to offset my bill. Got all dressed up for formal night and headed off to the lounge a bit early since we missed yesterday. The sea was angry as we had some cocktails in the lounge. We’re rocking and rolling – apparent wind is over 45 knots and we are cruising at full speed of 20 knots so we hopefully get in on time in Sydney. We are sailing into the wind so forward is jumping a bit. Barf bags are out on the stairs.

We’re rocking and rolling

I was really looking forward to lobster in the MDR tonight since it’s the last formal night but they were not serving it. I wasn’t willing to pay $30 extra so will get my lobster in Australia. Dinner was good as usual with Geronimo and Normandy. They did a parade and danced as well as serving the Royal 50th birthday cake but the chocolate lava cake was amazing (glad we only got 1 to split because it was decadent!)

Vegetarian arancini with portobello instead of meat but no peas
Blue cheese and pear salad with rocket lettuce – never saw rocket lettuce anywhere except the ship?
My seafood pasta which seems to be a staple on the menu with a different sauce each night. It was just ok
Alex’s red snapper – also just ok
Chocolate lava cake – absolutely to die for. Glad we’re near the end and I’m just learning how good this is. The temptation is real but we just split one

Geronimo far right, Normandy far left

Last sea day tomorrow so we need to pack and prepare to move on. If you’re in the Wayne area don’t forget to stop by my church, UMC in Wayne on Parish Drive to check out the rummage sale on Saturday. Lots of great stuff (and all my old work clothes if you know any big ladies who need suit jackets check it out!).

  1. Kim, I just took a big load of my friend’s ladies’ work clothes to Dress for Success in Lawrence Twp. They are especially in need of larger sizes. Shoes, too.
