Ok now be honest how many of you are saying where the heck are they now. Yes we’re in Beaver. It’s about an hour from Bryce Canyon and hotel rates are a lot more reasonable more late but first the performance

Yesterday at our tour, our guides told us that the choir and symphony were performing a 30 minute performance this morning so we decided to delay leaving Salt Lake to see it, we knew the ropes of where to park from yesterday but it was a lot more crowded. We walked from the parking lot to the tabernacle with a herd of people. As I looked around it appeared I was the only woman in pants everyone else had a dress on. I had nice pants and a blouse same for Alex but I said to him…they may not let me in. All was good we entered with the crowd and found a seat in the balcony. Wow..wow…wow..is all I can say. The acoustics were incredible.

It was packed this was around 9:10 for a 9:30 performance. They actually made any sisters attending stand or go to a limited view section,

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is composed of volunteer singers ages 25–60. You can participate in the choir for a maximum of 20 years as long as you remain in this age bracket. This 360-member chorus includes men and women, all volunteers. A symphony to support the choir was established in 1999. Prior to that various symphonies like Utah & NY Philharmonic accompanied them.

Much more than an icon, the organ and its 11,623 pipes breathe a warm, refined sound that blends perfectly with the voices of the Choir. The Tabernacle Choir organ staff consists of three full-time and two part-time musicians. These organists carry on the more than 100-year-old tradition of daily recitals on Temple Square and support the Choir in its rehearsals and performances.

The choir has been performing the Music & the Spoken Word Gift of Music Draft for 98 years. Click the link if you’d like to hear the broadcast or learn more. They’ve done over 5,000 performances. We were at their season opening since they just returned from a tour.

We drove about 3 1/2 hours south through the Utah desert from SLC to Beaver.

We stopped for lunch in a unique diner called “One Man Diner”. When you enter, you seat yourself, review the menu, and pick up the phone to place your order with the guy at the counter (less than 10 feet away 😂🤪). You go and make your drink at another counter, grab your silverware and condiments and return to your table until the phone rings that your order is ready (don’t pick up phone just go to counter). Go to counter, pay and retrieve your food.

Our hotel in Beaver is a flash back in time. We haven’t stayed in a motel where you enter your room from outside in a while. It’s extremely clean and even had a personal, handwritten note from the housekeeper along with a towel animal to greet us. We felt like we were entering a cruise cabin!

We just drove today and watched both the Giants and Mets win so Alex is happy. All of his teams won this weekend – Tennessee Tech, Rutgers, Giants & Mets twice. I have a happy hubby. I told him it’s because he went to the Tabernacle – look out Wayne friends he might be joining us at UMCW instead of golfing in NJ. 😛🤪🤪😜

Tomorrow we will get up early to head to Bryce Canyon and then come back for another night at the Paradise Inn..until then.
