If you haven’t read previous posts – we traveled to Sydney from JFK through Singapore. After 36 hours of travel with 25 hours of flying and a short layover in Singapore we made it! Singapore Airport was quite impressive. We were tired from our 18 hour flight so made our way to the lounge for some rest and breakfast. The lounge was huge and busy but we easily found some seats.

They announced that the Sydney flight was a 30 minute walk from the lounge so we left early to make our way. There is pretty much any high end shop you want (or any shop) in this airport. And lots of food options too but we ate enough in the lounge so just browsed on our way to the air Tran to Terminal 1

Our next flight to Sydney was 7 hours. Our seats were not together we were in the same row but opposite sides of the plane.

They fed us well again. We had a meal right after takeoff. It started with Chicken Satay our friend, Leslie, told us about. She was right it was delicious – a bit spicy and not that stick to the roof of your mouth overwhelming peanut butter taste – real peanuts. Yum!

Our flight landed around 9 – it was hard for us to even fathom the day or time due to all the time changes. We breezed right through customs – it was the face recognition kind and gathered up our bags before calling an Uber. We learned our lesson with taxis in Sydney when the driver last time took us in circles to raise the fare. Not this time Uber got us right to our air bnb. We are staying across the harbor from the Opera House in Neutral Bay on the north side of Sydney. Our next challenge was dragging our bags up 3 flights of stairs to our apartment. It was really Alex’s challenge because I couldn’t lift any of our suitcases and only carried the backpacks.

We have 4 nights in Sydney before boarding our cruise ship. We’ve done many of the tourist things like the Opera House tour, etc. so today we’ll take it easy and tomorrow we head to the Blue Mountains.
Until then…,
