Our last day in Sydney was a bit of a quiet day as we prepare to board the ship tomorrow. We walked up the hill for breakfast which was absolutely amazing. I had a breakfast stack which was a hash brown, portobello mushroom, avocado, cheese and poached eggs on a bed of chimichurri sauce with broccolini. It was delicious. Alex had an omelet. Who sees a pattern here by the engineer?

Today was laundry day. Many of you know my love for laundry! It’s my therapeutic love. Well Sydney passed the test. While the washer and dryer were smaller than mine at home they worked well and didn’t take forever. In Europe it took me 3 hours to wash one load and another hour or so in the dryer. This was quick about an hour for each and the dryers don’t get quite as hot so no wrinkles. A+ you can see I’m serious about laundry.

In the afternoon we ventured out taking the ferry and train to the fish market. We had been to the fish market last time we were here and it was quite an experience. There are lots of vendors selling very fresh raw and cooked fish. The market has been open for more than 50 years and a new market will open in January 2026 so we wanted one last time at the current market. Oh well guess we should have checked the times because we got there at 3:45 and it closes at 4. We knew as soon as we got off the train and it wasn’t crowded. Ugh. Many things close early especially on Sunday. We had to adjust.

We walked to another seafood restaurant in the Star Casino. It was a bit pricey and wasn’t as good as the fish market would have been but we had a beautiful view for our meal.

After dinner we went to see Back to the Future. The show was excellent. We sat in the stall (what they call orchestra) with tickets we bought at the door. We even got the pensioners price so only $69 AUD ($45 US). The singing and dancing talent was similar to Broadway and the special effects were well done. We really enjoyed it. Now I’m ready to go to the shows on the ship (likely by myself as Alex isn’t a huge fan of shows and only goes up some).

We board the ship today (Monday morning here in Sydney). We are excited to see a few new ports in New Zealand. We really enjoyed Sydney – it is one of my favorite cities. You feel so safe, people are friendly, public transport is good and lots of iconic sights. Too bad it’s on the other side of the world or we would visit more often.
Until then..,,,
