MSC Seashore – Belize and Roatan

Written by Kim

Port of Roatan

Our second port of call was Belize. It was a tender port and we were docked quite a distance from town so decided not to get off the ship. We just sat by the pool and enjoyed our drink package. There are 3 pools on the ship. The Long Island pool is on deck 16, the Jungle pool is also on 16, and Infinity pool is on deck 8. We chose the Infinity pool which had very cool water and heavy chlorine. We had a few mishaps today. First I went in the pool with my phone in the pocket of my swim skirt. Alex noticed right away and took it out. Luckily the phone is fine. 😅🤦‍♀️After a bit in the pool my eye was burning terribly and tearing so we left to go back to the cabin. My eye continued to burn and tearing most of the day despite me doing compresses, drops, Visine, resting and showering. I could get no relief so I went down to the medical center. We have insurance so I know the cost would be covered. The Dr, Clare from South Africa, was very nice and suspected it was just irritated. She gave me an oral antihistamine and lubricating drops. After a few hours I felt much better so well worth the $200.

Infinity pool – aft of ship
Jungle pool – no one is in because it’s all 6 feet
Long Island pool – nice but an unmarked drop off in the center it goes from 3 to 6 feet with no warning so beware!

Dinner was in the main dining room with Shandu & Darfranklin. It was very good again, Alex’s fish was a little dry and my short rib was a bit fatty but most short rib is.

Italian Wedding Soup
My short rib with delicious veggies and polenta
Alex’s red snapper
Apple strudel swimming in sauce not very good but ok we don’t need the calories

We didn’t have plans for Roatan either. We were here on 2022 and did the sloth tour so took another quiet day at the pool and a short walk at the port. Years ago when we cruised we would talk to older couples who told us they were not getting off at port and we couldn’t understand. Now we are those old people! We enjoy the quiet ship on port days and once you’ve done the touristy stuff no need to keep repeating if there’s not a nice beach to visit.

Roatan from our balcony – very lush with dogs barking like crazy
At the port
Icon was in port with us
Port of Roatan – they’ve done a nice job building since we were last here
Public pool at port. Just buy drinks or food
We had some tacos and drinks in port

Dinner was at Ocean Cay, the specialty seafood restaurant. The food was excellent.

Crab corn chowder
My grilled seafood – lobster, shrimp, tuna, salmon & calamari
Alex’s tuna was delicious
My tiramisu & Alex’s pineapple ice cream

We had a good night in the casino or should I say Alex did. I started the cruise playing $100 in slots. I was able to play on that $100 for 4 days which I was happy about but now my ticket is gone so I’ll have to open my wallet again tomorrow. Alex has been playing Texas hold ‘em which has been up and down but he hit a good run last night and we are up for the whole cruise which is nice. It doesn’t always happen but nice when it does.

Nice stack

Today we are in Cozumel. Will post again in a day or 2. Until then….
