We’ve been to Barbados several times and normally do a snorkeling / catamaran tour here because the water is just so clear and beautiful but this time we bought a day pass to Harbor Lights resort. The taxi was $5 per person and we rented 2 beach chairs and an umbrella for $52. We paid a slight upcharge to have front row seats at the beach which was really beautiful so we could watch the sea while we relaxed in our loungers.

Barbados is a beautiful island with white, soft sandy beaches and clear blue water that you can see right to the bottom through. We bobbed around in the sea on our new blowup floats. It was an amazing day. This is one of our favorites.

We can’t leave Barbados without a Banks in the port and some photos.

We didn’t like the choices for Mexican night in the dining room so we ate dinner at Playmakers, the sports bar. You pay à la carte for food at playmakers but the prices are reasonable. We had lots of fun

The entertainment was a musician named Kuba from Poland. He was very talented with lots of energy. He played all kinds of unique instruments. He started on an electronic vibraphone. The vibraphone is a xylophone with metal keys played with a mallet

He also played a theremin which I never heard of. The theremin is a unique, early electronic instrument invented in 1919 by Russian physicist Leon Theremin, played without physical contact by moving hands around two antennas to control pitch (right hand) and volume (left hand). Check out the video

After he played the theremin he called a young girl, about 10 years old, from the audience to try playing it. She did pretty good getting sounds but really didn’t play a tune. It’s performances like this that I enjoy because it’s things I’d never see anywhere else.
Tomorrow is St Lucia. Until then….
