We had 3 days at sea heading north from San Juan to NJ. The first day was warm so we spent some time at the pool but it was crowded because we all knew it was our last pool day for a while.

We enjoyed our walks in the morning (except it was too windy and the deck was closed on the last sea day).

Michael Wehril, a play write, author & theater expert, gave talks on famous people each sea day, I went to a few – Tina Turner, The Beatles, and Tom Hanks. They were very informative and interesting giving unusual biographical information. In the afternoons, he did talks of presidents and their wife’s. I only went to one of them – James & Dolly Madison. Got to build that trivia knowledge. We played some trivia too but didn’t win any.

We saw several great shows. One night was the Las Vegas Tenors. They were outstanding and did all types of music from hard rock, to classical rock, to country to opera.

We also Showgirls, a high energy, singing & dancing production show. The cast onboard Odyssey is very talented. The costumes were and the orchestra is one of the best I ever heard on a ship.

The band in the music hall, Thalia & The Groove, was great too. They played all kids of rock, 80s and dance music. When Thalia sand Whitney Houston it gave me the chills.

We had dinner one night in Giovanni’s, the Italian specialty restaurant. Some of the food was good – some mediocre but the service was awful. We were very disappointed in the decline of the specialty restaurants. We paid an upcharge of about $70 a couple and it really wasn’t even as good as the main dining room was years ago. I don’t think we will do Giovanni again because the food in it was awful on Independence in Jan, also.

The last formal night was lobster night which was very good. Probably the best lobster we had in several years

We had some challenges in the main dining room for dinner. We were scheduled for My Time. The first night we got a table right next to the waiter station and a pole so every time a waiter passed to go to a table in the section they bumped John. The waiters were good but we asked to move, The next several nights we were at another table. Our waiter, Nilesh, was very good but his assistant was awful (no where to be found). They also sat his whole section at the same time so he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. So we asked to move again, Finally, the last few days we had a good table with great waiters but the restaurant manager kept checking on us and even sent us each a bottle of wine and gave us more wine at dinner. The food was inconsistent – some things were great and others not so great but we enjoyed our time with friends each night.

I will have one last post from this trip with my summary or review, We don’t have any trips planned for the next few months but you never know! We have lots of family visiting us in SC and we’re redoing our guest bathroom. I also will be in NJ for 2 weeks in May while Heather travels on business. Thanks for following.
