Had a quick breakfast at Macca’s (Mc Donald’s) before hitting the A1 to head to Sydney. Some different menu options for breakfast – banana bread, raisin bread, scones, donuts and the usual Mc muffins but no Mc Griddles here in Oz. Our drive today was 6 hours of mostly freeway. We drove through the suburbs to get into the city since we avoided tolls because don’t have an EZ Pass and didn’t want to pay the rental car surcharge. We arrive at our apartment around 4.
Our apartment is in Rushcutters Bay. It’s a cute studio in an apartment building. We arrived during a thunderstorm so even with the umbrella he got a bit drenched getting our key from the lockbox. We had to go to the street behind the apartment to enter the parking which was quite tight so a negotiating challenge but Alex did great. We’ve decided we will leave the car parked and use public transport while in Sydney. Luckily by the time we parked the rain stopped because we want to take all our luggage in to get organized for returning home.
Joined Dave for some Thai dinner to say farewell. I did an awful job at food pics again. I don’t think I’ll ever get the hang of this food photo thing. We had some rain so good we brought our umbrellas to be walking around the city. Dave heads to Melbourne to fly home to the UK on Wednesday while we will stay in Sydney. We are basically both about 17,000 km from our homes (in a bit of a different direction).
Good bye Dave – safe travels home. It’s been real sharing part of our journey with you and hearing all about your daughter’s solar car race down the center of Australia. As I finish typing the blog I’m watching CBS News on Sunday morning at home. I’m missing my John Elliott weather reports. Looks like you’ll have a nice Monday. Tomorrow we will tour around Sydney and climb the Harbor Bridge at sunset. I hope the weather clears a bit.
