April 2022 – Nothing but sea as far as the eye can see

Written by Kim

Days at sea are so peaceful and relaxing. We on our on 3rd day at sea (of 9) before we get to Spain. This morning i woke up and looked outside without my glasses on. I thought i saw land and then realized it was the balcony railing. Duh! Had a good laugh though. Day 1 was very windy and rained on and off. We went to the pool for a bit but then came inside for a nap.

The lifeguards all bundled up on windy Day 1

Day 2 was much better. Nice and sunny to work on my bronzing. Lol. We started the day with a walk on the track. The track is crowded but really gets me grounded for the day. I listen to some music and get my thoughts together watching the waves. I’m having some issues with my heal so decided to rest it on Day 3 but hope to get back to walking tomorrow. Alex has been walking twice a day! No golf so feels he can get some extra exercise to combat the calories and alcohol.

We went to Chops, the steakhouse, on Day 2. It was delicious but unfortunately I’m doing a horrible job with my food pictures. Sorry all my foodies out there. Here’s a few

Pick started good with shrimp cocktail
Fail on the bacon it was yummy you have to trust me
Remembered again with coffee.

We saw a fantastic show, Voices, which was totally acapello. Some voices doing drum, bass, horns, etc were recorded with the live singers and dancers. What a talented group I really enjoyed it. Alex isn’t a big show guy so I went with Patty & Tony and was glad I didn’t miss it. One of the reasons we enjoy RCCL is the entertainment. Their production shows are fantastic. Usually they also do a full Broadway show but evidently it’s not ready on this ship yet

After the show we stopped at the English Pub for a drink. It was a wild crowd in there with a Scottish acoustic guitar player, Kevin Phillip. He was great playing all kinds of music from Bohemian Rhapsody to Johnny Cash to Irish Drinking songs. What a blast we will be sure to catch him again.

After closing the pub we came back to the room to catch the end of the Mets game. We bring our HDMI wire so we can hook up the TV to our phone and watch You Tube TV or Netflix. Alex is a genius at this stuff and found a hack on You Tube to change the TV input. We did this when we went to Australia too since the ship TV is so limited and we like to watch Colbert before bed

Let’s go Mets! They won

Day 3 was another beautiful day at sea. We went to the Top Tier event for Pinnacles & Diamond Plus because I wanted to know the counts of people on board. There are about 3600 people on board (55% capacity). 3,000 are Crown & Anchor members, the RCCL Loyalty program. There are 802 Diamond Plus – that’s what we are- and 220 Pinnacles on board. We will never make Pinnacle it’s 700 nights on board and we only have 226. There were 20 new people who reached Pinnacle this cruise and there are 3,500 total Pinnacles with Royal. We have lots of cruise friends who are “Elite Pineapples” as we call them. The man with the most nights on board had 3633 points. Wow!

Captain Hennrick, from Norway. We sailed our Transpacific on Ovation with him
The Aqua Theater swimmers and dancers did one number for us

We relaxed by the pool the rest of the day. Headed to Hooked, the seafood restaurant, for dinner tonight.

I’ll post again in a few days. We are about 500 nautical miles south of Bermuda. The ocean looks the same as at home. Until then from Wonder…,
