Day 17 – Heading southbound again! (10/3/19)

(Written by Alex)

Kim and I were awake when the ship arrived in Honolulu at approximately 1am. They didn’t dock, but rather dropped a lifeboat/tender and transported the patient to shore. We estimate that the ship was back in route to Tahiti by 3am, approximately 29 hours later than scheduled. Praying the passenger is fine.

We woke up a bit late after all of that skipped the track and went straight to breakfast (amazing I can still get hungry on a cruise!). Made myself a egg sandwich as best I could. It was pretty good!

Next on the progressive trivia. This new sea day feature has delayed our trips to the pool but I’m actually ok with it. We did fairly well today scoring 26 out of 30 possible points.

Lunch was in the main dining room. Sat next to couples from Alabama and Canada (Quebec we think). We both ordered a rice dish with chicken and spices – it was really very good! No picture? Duh!!

After lunch we lounged at the pool for a few hours and then went to the gym in the late afternoon rather than the lounge. Great time to go the gym, very quiet. I guess everyone else is drinking?? 🤪

Dinner was at Chops for our third time. I’m completely hooked on the 9 oz. filet mignon and now Kim is on board with that. The cuts have been just amazing. Kim started with the wild mushroom soup (she said it was very good) and we both had the yummy crab cake. No desert after because we are trying very hard… lol.

In the evening Kim went to a show while I played a bit in the casino. She said the show was pretty lame (a Kiwi comedian making balloon animals?). I won in the casino. Ok, I didn’t win. But I only lost $20, so I consider that a win! 😁

Late night show was the Love and Marriage game. Our new Cruise Director Chris was very good. A different humor than the previous CD Joff, but funny nonetheless.

PS – schedule update due to the lost day. The day at Moorea has been cancelled. We will go to Bora Bora first and then Tahiti.

Until tomorrow – Aloha! 🤙🌴☀️
