Started the day with a walk out on the deck. It was a Just Do It day for me as my knee is still bothering me but glad I did it because it felt good. Off to breakfast and trivia in 270 which is becoming the norm. We didn’t do well in trivia today we decided to gamble on the bonus question and got it wrong losing 10 points so only got 2 points today. Ugh! It really doesn’t matter as we are having good laughs and conversation with our teammates, Tony, Wendy, Leon and Deb and that’s what it’s all about. After trivia we had to go hand in our passports so they can process them in French Polynesia. It’s the first time we’ve handed in our passports and felt a little risky but looked well under control
We headed up to the pool for the crossing the equator ceremony even though we are not crossing until tomorrow night. We should have been at the equator today but schedule changed due to our turnaround a few days ago. This was the first time the ship felt crowded. I think most of the 4,800 people were up at the pool deck it was packed. We were a bit late and the skit was pretty cheeky so we moved on and went to Windjammer which was pretty empty so we avoided the lunch rush. I recognized Captain Henrik on the deck so i stopped him to chat for a minute and thank him for his prompt decision and excellent handling of the medical emergency. After lunch it started to rain so a nap was in order before happy hour.
Most of you know, Friday is Happy Hour date night for us so we enjoyed TGIF in the diamond lounge. Is it bad that most of the servers and bartenders circle me since my drink is never empty and I don’t even need to tell them what I want? We do tip well and most don’t tip so I’m going with that as the reason. We sent this photo off to a friend of Alex since it’s his 40th HS reunion and they are celebrated. Met some new people tonight, Judy and Jim from Lake City, FL near Stephen and Bethany. Their grandson got married in Camp Weed where the kids are hoping to get married. We also met a couple that live in Wall. Township and the wife (Denise) grew up a couple of blocks away from Alex in Brick! He remembers her family living in the house but didn’t know her well personally. They were one year apart in school and have a number of common friends. Small world!
We had dinner in the main dining room with Geronimo and Normandy who were excellent again. They brought us a big plate of shrimp because we both ordered shrimp cocktail. Stopped in the casino before the late night comedy. I actually won a few sheckles on a slot so we almost came out even to offset a small loss at 3 card poker. We will take it. Late night comedy was ok not great. The entertainment on the ship isn’t as good as usual so Alex hooked up his phone so we could stream Stephen Colbert’s monologue before calling it a night. This was a nice touch that made it feel like home.
Another day at sea tomorrow. Hoping it’s clear so we can go to the pool and I can work on my tan.
Food pics, way to go…Glad you are enjoying yourselves!
