Day 19 – Crossing the Equator (10/5/19)

Written by Kim

This morning we had a galley tour first thing. Luckily they didn’t need our help down there but it was quite an impressive production that produces 650 plates per seating. After the tour we joined progressive trivia for round 4. We did a bit better today but clearly animal trivia is not our strength. We came back to the room to relax before lunch and were surprised when the Cruise Critic cabin crawl knocked on the cabin door with about 20 people coming to see our cabin. I completely forgot i signed up. Good thing the cabin was organized and we were decent. Our guests loved our balcony and our iced tea set-up. was doing some laundry lol. We joined the remainder of the crawl and saw an awesome Sky Loft suite and Grand loft suite (both 2 story rooms with huge balconies). Spent the afternoon at the pool enjoying a cooler of beers.

I think our selfies are getting better with practice.
Galley tour with Chef Melvin
The scarves they wear show seniority – red are supervisors of an area, blue are experienced, yellow are first time “babies” of the crew

We met some new people in the lounge tonight. The Aussies are so friendly. About 3 sentences into our conversation Wolf and Kathy invited us to stop at their house when were in Australia to stay or just do some laundry. We got some good advice on happy hour spots not to miss while in various stops during our trip. We’re getting lots of great insights from the people we meet. Around 8 pm we crossed the equator (stole the pic from someone else because we were at dinner). Dinner was in main dining room. Geronimo and Normandy were excellent again. After dinner we stopped at casino and luckily I won a bit on slots again so we left about even. I got 131 bonus spins on a machine which only paid $80 but sure helped. Stopped at the Schooner bar for a drink to hear the pianist do the Elton John tribute for a bit. Before calling it a night we went up to the pool deck to watch a bit of the NRL final. Ok I didn’t know what it was but – Rugby final with Sydney Roosters vs. Canberra Raiders. The roosters were favored and won. The pool deck and theater were both pretty crowded watching the game.

Some food pics for those who keep requesting. We are trying but keep forgetting.

Breakfast – royal muffin and fruit cup
Lunch – roast beef sandwich, salad and fruit
Crab cake in MDR (not as good as Chops) but yummy
Grilled prawns with 1 piece of broccoli – veggies are overrated evidently.
Gnocchi to taste and share since we both got prawns
Carrot cake we saw them making on galley tour.

Another day at sea tomorrow – Aloha and mahalo thanks for joining us on our journey.
