Crossing the International Date Line for the first time is weird. We had been 7 hours behind New Jersey for a few days and suddenly – BOOM – we are 17 hours ahead! Hello Tuesday!
The engineer in me had to figure out what happened to our 24 hours. Basically we pick it up in little pieces as we travel – including a huge chunk when we fly back home.
To date we have gained 7 hours as we’ve traveled west. We will gain 2 more to Sydney. Then when we fly home we will gain the rest back – 14 hours (less one than 15 because NJ will have come off of DST). So basically our October 14 has been cut up in pieces and spread out over our entire journey! But I figured it counts as a day because it’s on the calendar – so it gets a post.
So it’s on to Tuesday!!
