Day 3 – Last full day in Vancouver! (9/19/19)

Been a little tricky making our bodies understand than we aren’t on the east coast any more! 4am comes along and I think it’s time to rise and shine – been forcing myself to try to sleep longer. Did better today and we finally got up around 6:30. We aren’t in Hawaii but went to Honolulu Coffee here and Kim liked her latte. I had iced tea and a breakfast sandwich so I was fine.

We had done a walking tour yesterday with Tour Guys and decided that we’d do another today – this time of Gastown. Erik was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. Did you know that they have rioted a lot in Vancouver? Well we know now – even though I do recall them burning cars here when the Canucks lost to the Bruins in 2010.

After our tour and lunch we decided to jump on a very touristy “hop-on hop-off” bus. We had considered going to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but the weather was icky and we were both still nursing a pair of barking dogs (sore feet) from our 22k+ steps yesterday. So off we went to drive through beautiful Stanley Park and then we jumped off at Granville Island, because there is seafood, a brewery and a market there. Ok, confession. I was focused on the brewery. But Kim was interested in the market and we both like seafood, so it seemed like a good bet. Granville Island Brewery was great, we had oysters at Vancouver Seafood Company for happy hour, and then had some chicken teriyaki at the Public Market. The place is very cool and was pretty busy even for a Thursday in mid-September.

After Granville Island we made our way back to the bus and headed toward the hotel. We stopped to have a drink or two and then back to the room to get ready for cruising tomorrow!! Can’t wait – Ovation here we come!
