Wow, what a crazy busy three days! Lots to report so let’s get to it….
On Tuesday morning we decided to take a ride to a small local waterfall, Crystal Cascades. It was about a 20 minute drive and another 20 minute walk on a well paved walkway. Have to get those steps in!!
We only had a short amount of time for lunch so we stopped at McDonalds of all places. “Maccas” as they say here in Australia, the menu is similar but with some differences. We had a burger with different toppings but was still clearly McDs. Whatever, it did the job and it was fast!
Next was our “Wait a While” tour where the tour guide takes us to see local wildlife in the wild both during the day and at night, with dinner in between. Paul was our guide and he was excellent, but scared the shit out of us with his driving! I think Kim and I both had a few panic attacks in that van!
We saw strange birds, lizards, marsupials, and other critters – including the bizarre duck-billed platypus. It was all pretty amazing! In the dark Paul had a light on his head and would watch in the trees for eyes. He found a small lizard on the ground, a owl in a tree with his meal still hanging below him, and a possum hanging upside-down having a small munch. It’s a great tour and despite the wild ride, I’d recommend it to anyone!

By the time Paul dropped us at our car and we got back to our apartment is was after 10 and we were exhausted. The reef is tomorrow so up and out early! Till then, cheers!
