Up early for breakfast at the Deck where we had dinner last night then off to catch the 8:30 ferry to Hamilton Island. The ferry took about an hour so just relaxed a bit. When we arrived we caught a shuttle to our room at Whitsunday apartments. This island is absolutely gorgeous and the view from our huge balcony is spectacular. I’m not feeling well as I caught a bad cold and am very congested hacking and coughing. We ran out of cold meds I packed so we went to the chemist last night and got some decogestion medicine. It seems to be breaking things up but makes me cough like crazy.
We just chilled on the balcony in the morning so I could rest then took the shuttle down to the tavern at the marina for lunch. There are no cars allowed on the island so you either rent a golf cart or take 1 of the 2 shuttles that circles the island every 15-20 minutes. We are just using the shuttles. We decided we need to try the chicken parmi for lunch. I had the regular chicken parm and Alex has the Hawaiian. It was very good but a little different than we’re used to with ham and 2 different cheeses. We ate outdoors on the deck and the birds were very aggressive. As soon as a guest got up and left chicken bones from chicken wings the birds would come and grab them.
After lunch we went to the pool for a bit before getting ready to go to the top of the hill for sunset. Sunset wasn’t great and it started to rain right as the sun was setting but we snapped a few pictures and had a few drinks. After the sun set a bunch of they huge fruit bats came swarming the coast. It was a bit spooky but hard to see in photos.
Since we had a big lunch we opted for pizza and gelato for dinner. The pizza was ok but the gelato was amazing. We both had caramel cheesecake gelato and I had a scoop of Tobelerone. Thought of my Heather because she loves Tobelerone from all my trips to Switzerland.
Finished today with a nightcap out on the balcony as I write the blog. So relaxing to just listen to the waves crash on the shore. Tomorrow we golf. My honey is itching to swing the clubs since it’s been 3 weeks since he’s played. Let’s see how many balls I lose – wish me luck. Until tomorrow. G’day mates!
