December 3, 2020 – Brookgreen Gardens Night of a Thousand lights

Written by Kim

We had a great night getting into the Christmas spirit with our friends, Jaime, Barry, Gene, and Linda at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrell’s Inlet which is about an hour from our house. The light display is now in its 20th year. The annual display includes more than 2,700 hand-lit candles along with more than two million twinkling lights framing the many sculptures, trees and flowers of the 9,127-acre gardens. As we leisurely meandered around the grounds you could hear holiday music or sip a glass of wine or beer. It was a bit chilly in the high 50s so it even felt like Christmas but wasn’t too cold. It was a gorgeous display with lots of volunteers working hard to light the candles each night and guide the visitors. I think the pictures will tell the story. Apologies in advance that I’m not the best photographer

Goodbye Brookgreen

It was a great night. We look forward to visiting the gardens in the daylight and for other events. Thanks to Jaime for organizing. We had a nice dinner at Hot Fish Tuna Club on the inlet before heading home. Food was great (except Barry’s lobster pot pie) but I forgot to take pictures. Sorry foodies.

Until next time…..

  1. Warm Cabernet, sparking lights and great friends. We had a great time with all of you. Glad we could all come together and make this happen.

It was a beautiful night! I love this place. It is a botanical and sculpture garden full of artifacts and history. Lots of flowers, fountains and reflection ponds. A photographer’s paradise. They filter in soft music that fits the time period of Roman gods and goddesses to bring you back in time to match the sculptures. Very relaxing. I can spend hours here.
