We had 2 days at sea after we left Aruba. We enjoyed relaxing around the ship and by the pool after doing so much islands jumping over the last several days.
Our day at CocoCay was only in the low 70s with some wind so a bit cool. For those who aren’t aware CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island, Recently they opened a new area called Hideaway Beach which is an adults only beach/pool area with an extra fee for admission. We paid $38 so thought it might be worth it to give it a try. Basically, you get a chair, access to a heated pool and swim up bar for your admission. Lunch is free throughout the island and you pay for drinks just like you do on the ship.
Lunch was very good – coconut shrimp, Greek salad, chicken sandwich and mozzarella sticks
There was some interesting wildlife too.
I did a few things around the ship and- a backstage tour
I also went to see the Ice Show. I got there right as it started so had a terrible seat but I’ve seen the show many times so no big deal
We enjoyed 2 nights at Chops and formal night with lobster in the dining room. Some food pics for those that like them
We enjoy cruising and love getting to know the staff. We did My Time dining but asked for the same waiter, Inyoman from Bali, and asst, waiter, Luisa from Philippines
You may be surprised to learn that we always have a favorite bartender or two or three. The bartenders at the Tavern, the sports bar, were excellent. We enjoyed spending time with them. Often Imade would give us a show singing into his tools, etc, They were a lot of fun. We shared stories of antics with bartenders on other ships and they knew some of our past bartenders. 😂
Disembarking was pretty easy. We chose to walk off with our luggage so we went down to the dining room where they had a very organized queue to get off the ship. The one drawback was that we came back to Terminal A but left from Terminal G so needed to take a shuttle back to the parking garage. It took some time for them to load our luggage on a bus to drive 10 minutes through the port. It took us less than an hour to get off the ship and back to our car. We were glad we were off early because I’m sure it was a mob scene later. Navigation through port of Miami is a nightmare.
We are headed to Singer Island for a few days. My son, Stephen, his wife Bethany and the 3 kids – Luke, Greyson, and Layla will join us for a few days. Normally, I don’t blog family trips but will give some details in a short post about our Airbnb. Until then….
