It’s been a while since I posted in our blog. We’ve done quite a bit a family travel which I don’t post in our blog. We welcomed our fourth grandson, Greyson, only need one more for a basketball team. We got to visit the other kids and both our moms. God is good. We just had family visiting us in Myrtle and decided we needed a short getaway so have a few nights here in Savannah. We arrived around 2 pm and checked into our hotel, The Planters Inn.
It’s a cute well kept older hotel right next door to The Olde Pink House. A perfect location to explore downtown. On our way out I had a brief Sunday afternoon chat with John Wesley, the father of my religion Methodism, in the square outside our hotel.
Off we went on a little bar crawl. We started at the Cottonline for a few drinks and some grouper bites and crab dip then we mosied on to the Biergarten where we watched some cargo ships and the Georgia Queen go up the Savannah River.
After a few drinks it was time to move on so we found a rooftop bar, Top Deck, for our next stop. While we were there our friend Lesley, from the UK, posted that she was watching Elton John in Glastonbury. We enjoy Elton so found a free VPN that enabled us to watch the show from the Top Deck. We were there a while watching the entire concert. It was lots of fun.
We got another recommendation from a friend about a speakeasy so set out to find that for a nightcap. We walked a few minutes and found the Peacock Lounge for a few more drinks. It wasn’t very crowded because it was probably too early (only about 8).
We had a short walk to our hotel after a fun filled bar crawl. Tomorrow we will do the touristy stuff.
Goodnight from Savannah.
