After a long day yesterday we lagged a bit in the morning before getting out and about. We are staying in Park MGM which is the only smoke free casino in Vegas. It is so nice not to have a sore throat, teary eyes and stinky clothes from the smoke. We will stay here again but learned our lesson to make a breakfast reservation in advance because there is basically one place to get breakfast and we waited over an hour to be seated. Breakfast was a little pricey but very good at The Primrose. After breakfast I took a walk to meet a friend at MGM Grabd across the street
Sarah Elliot (Caffrey) saw that I was in Vegas on Facebook and told me she was also here so we planned to meet up. I haven’t seen Sarah in close to 15 years. We worked together at J&J, she left, I retired and now she’s back at J&J. We had a lot of life to catch up on. We shared stories about the kids and all that happened as if we had seen each other yesterday. Thanks FB for helping me to continue to reconnect. Great to see you Sarah!
We played some pai gow at Park MGM before driving down to Fremont, in downtown Vegas. We love to walk around Fremont Street. If you’ve never been you’re missing a crazy part of Vegas. It’s a bit campy with all kinds of street performers, music, restaurants and casinos. It’s a big party every day.
We had dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, The Cadillac, in the Golden Nugget before heading to The Cosmopolitan that we will stay at the next few nights, When we cancelled Zion we looked for another MGM property in Vegas that would give us comp rooms, we are not huge gamblers but enjoy our MGM gold status compliments our a status match we get from being Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean. It was insane driving over to the Cosmo. The hotel entrances, etc. are so poorly marked but after some frustration and a U-turn we were there. The Cosmo is a bit trendier than Park MGM with lots of young 20-30 somethings hanging out, After a pretty long wait to check in we were finally in our room on the 37th floor. The views from our window are probably some of the best we’ve had in Vegas.
After a 14,000 step day we were pretty tired but hung in there a bit to play some pai gow. Good night from Vegas!
