October 4, 2022 – A surprise rocket launch

Written by Kim

Today our scheduled port was Port Canaveral. Last night we learned there was a planned rocket launch at 5:36 pm while we were in port. We didn’t plan to get off the ship since we were in port 1:30 – 8:30 and there’s not a lot to see in Canaveral so this was a nice surprise.

Leticia organizes coffee for us in the room every morning. Today she surprised us with peanut butter sandwiches which my mom loves with her coffee. We started the day with breakfast in Coastal Kitchen then went down to the Schooner for our daily dose of trivia and bloody Mary’s. Trivia was RCCL trivia. We came in 2nd but didn’t win the prized highlighter. We watched the parade in the promenade from the Schooner. My mom and I both love a good parade. We went to Playmaker for some onion rings, chicken tenders & wings.

The launch was quite far in the distance but Alex found the NASA countdown broadcast on You Tube which we listened to. Our balcony faced the launch site and everyone cheered when the satellite rocket launched. It was really exciting.

We had snacks and drinks in the room before dinner at Giovanni’s. Dinner was excellent but my photo taking was a fail. I only got the appetizers.

Tonight was the Aqua show. We’ve watched them practice for the last few days so we’re excited to see the performance. We sat on our balcony to watch while the peasants crowded in the theater (lol!). I think Aqua 80 is the best show in the entire RCCL fleet. It’s just amazing with the dancing, swimming, aerial acts, and diving.

It was another perfect day making memories with our moms. We are so fortunate. Good night from our little bear Karina left us tonight
