October 8, 2022 – Cool last day at sea

Written by Kim

With Dana our favorite bartender

When we woke up we were near our home in Myrtle Beach but as we sailed today it got cooler and windier. We had a busy day planned so it was fine. We had breakfast at Johnny Rockets then went to the Captain’s Corner. I enjoy listening to the questions for the captain and hotel director despite the fact that the questions are pretty much the same each cruise. Captain Goran shared that he met his wife on the Radiance. It must be a second marriage because they are newlyweds and he has a daughter who is the Safety Officer (2 levels below captain) on a Celebrity ship.

We had a quick lunch in Coastal Kitchen after the captains corner

Snap pea salad was delicious
Our moms both had Caesar salad

We did the Escape Room after lunch. It was a NASA theme where we had to solve different challenges to unlock the launch sequence. It was really difficult but Alex us very good at decoding puzzles and I got a few too. We didn’t say solve everything within the 50 minutes but our host, Beto, allowed us to complete in a few extra minutes so we could see the “rocket launch”. Normally there is a charge of $19.95 per person but it was free with our Star Class Suite. If you are traveling from NJ or a cool port in winter I highly recommend it on a cool sea day. It was really fun.

After the escape room we went to see Cats. Leticia reserved our front row seats so we met her at the theater. I’ve seen Cats a few times and was never a fan because I was always trying to tie together a story. The one comedian earlier in the week was joking how it is a show with a bunch of senseless singing and dancing. I went to the show thinking I will treat this like a opera where I can’t follow the story and will just enjoy the talent. I really enjoyed the singing and dancing. The cast was amazingly talented. It was fun.

Dinner tonight was in Giovanni’s. We ate a bit lighter for lunch so we were all looking forward to Giovanni’s. As usual, dinner was excellent but after dinner we needed to pack. They will take our bags down with us in the am and we will be one of the first ones off the ship which is good because we need to get to south Jersey for Alex’s grandson, Brady’s baptism. In tomorrow’s blog I will share more about our Star Class experience in summary.

Mozzarella & tomato salad (I asked them to add prosciutto)
Cannoli (I forgot pics of main course – oops)

Until then…..
