When we do our pilgrimage to South Florida in January there are a few stops that are standard – HR and Palm Beach Gardens for golf. All the other pieces flex around them. We usually do 2-3 nights at Hard Rock (depends on what rooms we get comped). The property is beautiful and well kept. The water feature in the lobby got a new song we’ve never seen before.
We played pai gow and slots and the Hard Rock took back some of the money we won to keep us alive playing on both cruises and at Borgata. On average we played in casinos about 2 1/2 weeks and lost less than $100 a day all while enjoying comp cruises, rooms, food, etc. Not bad. We know our play pays for our comps but we set an “entertainment budget” for gambling and whenever we come home with money we took we call it a win. We enjoy it but realize you need to keep your gambling in check.

We are creatures of habit and enjoy the food at Hard Rock Cafe and omelets for breakfast in Rise, the restaurant. The only small drawback is HR charges $45 a night resort fee so a comp room isn’t really free.

It was too cool for the pool so we decided to go out to play trivia at Riverside Market last night. It was a cool place with a simple menu and grab your own beers. They had a great selection of beers – I had 2 of my favorites, Duvel and Kona Big Wave

We didn’t win at trivia but landed in the middle of the pack. We held our own tying for first at halftime and getting the side eye from the locals.

Now we’re heading north to Palm Beach Gardens for Formy‘s Irish Open. I’ll play today at Palm Beach National for the practice round then Alex will play Thursday to Sunday with his NJ pals.
