April 2024 – Antigua

Written by Kim

We’ve been to Antigua several times. Most times we go to a beach because Antigua is know for their beaches. They have 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, along their Caribbean Sea coastline. The island is only 108 square miles so basically all beach. Several years ago we golfed her at the Jolly Harbour and it was very sandy (kind of like golfing on a beach. 😂).

We booked a tour through Viator to Dickinson Beach which included transport, chairs, an umbrella & lunch. We were way at the end of the beach and there were only the 4 of us so it was like a private beach.

It wasn’t the prettiest day. We had some light rain in the morning but it cleared up and the sun came out in the afternoon. It was muggy so maybe it was a blessing that it was overcast bc the sun was HOT!

Our lunch was Caribbean lobster, rice & beans, mac&cheese and coleslaw. Lunch was good but the lobster was a bit tough

We got back on the ship and I went up to walk on the treadmill. It’s nice to walk when the gym isn’t too crowded because everyone isn’t on board yet. We had a date night dinner. It was a show at Qsine, Le Petit Chef. It was cute. There is a 4 course pre fixe menu that you can choose your courses from 2 options. The animation runs like a movie on your table as Le Petite Chrf prepares each course. The grands would love it.

The show is about to begin
Le Petit Chef
Preparing the burrata salad
Chef picking tomatoes in greenhouse
Waiter delivers my starter
Alex had option 2 – tomatoe & manchego cheese
Chef preparing course #2 – boulibass. (We didn’t get that we had chicken Caesar salad)
Our second course + chicken Caesar
Preparing main course
Preparing lobster
Our main – lobster in butter sauce with caviar
Preparing dessert (little chef on right with shadow)
Alex’s dessert (not chefs footprints projected on dish)
My dessert – rice pudding
Our meal is over

The headliner entertainer tonight was a singer, Janien Valentine. She was amazing. She sang a wide variety of genres from Whitney Houston to Pavarotti. I am very impressed with the headliner entertainment on this ship. It’s top notch.

This was our last port. Now we have 2 days at sea before we are back in Ft Lauderdale. Until then…
