Well we got up super early for our car service, but it’s never quite as hard when it’s for day 1 of a big trip! Our car arrived at 3:50 and shuttled us over to Newark Airport. Check in and TSA isn’t too bad yet at that time on a Tuesday morning so we had no drama. A quick breakfast and onto the plane to Seattle that was maybe 25% full. Kim had an entire row to herself and used it for a nice nap! 😁😴
Once in Seattle we had a two hour layover and we were hungry for lunch, but they were still serving breakfast. So breakfast #2 it was! Our small flight to Vancouver was also mostly uneventful and pretty quick except for a 20-30 minute hold by air traffic control in Vancouver that didn’t let us take off right away.
Once in Vancouver it was through customs, got our luggage (it all made it – yay!!) and a cab to our hotel. We are at the Embarc Vancouver which is some sort of vacation apartments on the top few floors of the Sheraton. We won’t get daily cleaning service, but the room is really nice!
It was too early for dinner, so we found a pub across the street with a happy hour from 2-6, bingo!! A couple beers and small snacks and we were good to go.
We really had nothing planned for today and it was raining out (umbrellas were on our pack list but didn’t make it into our luggage). So we took a cab to the local casino (Parq Vancouver) and spent 2 hours losing $20 Canadian. That’s almost like a win in my book!
After the casino we went to a local Mexican restaurant that had great reviews on Yelp. Isn’t that why everyone comes to Vancouver – for the Mexican food? But it was very good even though we only snapped a photo of our margaritas and not the food itself – sorry Corkey Carol! 😁
Tomorrow we have more touristy stuff planned so stay tuned! But for tonight we are pretty tired from our long travel day. 😴😴
