The last leg of our journey took us back up to the Embassy in Palm Beach Gardens to meet up with the Golf Club of NJ for a 4 day tournament.
We got up to PBG a day early to enjoy a practice round with our friend Jose and his girlfriend, Lola. Jose took us to his home course, Mirasol, to play the Sunrise course which the pros used to play in the Honda Classic. I love coming to PBG to see friends each time we’re here. I decided to join the boys this time golfing and did ok. I shot a 114 (for those who don’t golf that’s not very good but for me it was great!).
It was very hot but the course was gorgeous. We had lots of fun, laughs and shared stories. It’s such a privilege to have great friends in places we travel.
After we golfed we enjoyed happy hour and dinner getting to know Lola. I told Jose as we were leaving “I approve”. Lola is a good match for Jose and I hope they enjoy good times together.
The antics of the Formy Coconut Classic began on Thursday with rounds at Eagle Trace. Friday they played Hammock Creek, Saturday was The Florida Club and Sunday they always finish at Albacoa. Alex didn’t play terribly well he’s in a bit of a slump but lots of laughs we’re had with this crazy gang. There were 21 golfers this year. Joe Cangialosi won it all.
We enjoy time in the evening sitting out by the pool like teenager drinking, laughing and telling stories. It’s a hard group to get moving so we only had a partial group dinner one night at Rocco’s Tacos and had pizza delivered one night. Dougmo taught us the Bengals fight song to prepare for the playoff game Sunday but unfortunately they didn’t win. Next year!
It’s always a fun time catching up with GCNJ (and some winter friends 🤪). I stay busy while Alex golfs. We’ve been to this area so many times I know my way around. I had an afternoon with my friend, Liz. It’s always special to have time with her. I worked with Liz 35 years ago but when we’re together it’s like we’ve seen each other every day in the last 30 years. I also got my nails done and now I have a go to place in PBG that does my nails the way I like them. Now I just need to find a place in Myrtle – I have my nail salons in NJ and FL otherwise.
After finishing at Albacoa we got back on our favorite road 95 to begin heading north. We made a quick stop for dinner and some Luke cuddles for Nana. Luke is getting so big and we are all preparing for his baby brother’s arrival in April. We stayed in Middleburg Sunday night and are now heading back to Myrtle. Looking forward to sleeping in our bed for a few nights before we head to NJ on Friday to celebrate Brady’s first birthday.
Until our next trip in a few weeks. Family trip to NJ then Cancun
