We enjoy a stop at Hard Rock Hollywood when we’re in South Florida. We got comp rooms for part of our stay which made it affordable because full price rooms are expensive. It is a beautiful property. We didn’t stay in the famous guitar tower but the rooms in the Oasis tower are almost the same they’ve all been redone. What a striking contrast to the cruise ship! Our shower was probably 1/2 the size of the entire cabin on the ship and the room was about four times the size of the cabin. The rooms are huge!
We arrived on Sunday afternoon after getting off the ship so watched some football at the sports bar. The 2 bartenders were from Haledon, NJ (the town next to where I grew up) and a guy sitting next to us was from Paterson. It was like old home week. The service was terrible but that kept our drinking down. Lol.
Of course we gambled but it was frustrating because the first night they only had $50 pai gow tables with 4 chairs each (normally they have 6). We won’t play at $50 so just played some slots. Monday and Tuesday they had $25 tables so we played quite a bit but they got our money in the end. The first day we played about 5 hours on $200 but in and left up $30 but gave it back day 2. Oh well it was our entertainment budget.
We enjoyed the pool during the day but that was a little annoying too. People in South Florida at the pool are just rude. There was an older couple next to us using 4 chairs that they spread out so no one could walk. People were looking everywhere for chairs but they didn’t care. Ugh! We ended up moving because we were annoyed with their selfishness. The next day we took a ride over to Hollywood Beach to walk on the Broadwalk. We like it there. It was a little cool so we didn’t go on beach but enjoyed lunch and a walk
Hard Rock property is gorgeous but food is super expensive and not very good so we went out for an afternoon meal each day and just had a snack in the evening. We were being European in our eating which is healthier for us anyhow. We found a good Thai place, Zane, one day and ate at the Mexican place, Mamacita, another day.
Goodbye Hollywood – making our way north to Palm Beach Gardens for a round of golf with my friend, Jose, at his home course, Mirasol, then off to Embassy to meet up with Alex’s NJ golf gang for the Formy’s Irish open. Leg 4 of our journey begins. Until then..,,
