This was the first time I flew to Key West normally we drive. Flying here (like most locations from Myrtle) requires that we connect in Charlotte. We had a few small delays but no major challenges. We were routing for a young couple who got married in Myrtle last night and were on their way to their honeymoon in Punta Cana, where we got married 15 years ago, because they had a tight connection we’re not sure if they made it.

We took a taxi from the airport to our Air Bnb on Ann Street which is one block behind Sloppy Joe’s. We’ve stayed in this little gated compound of one room cottages. There are 5 cottages and a pool. We’ve now stayed in 3 of the 5. We typically rent via RentKW as it has less fees than VRBO or AirBnb.

We made dinner reservations for Louie’s Backyard, a well known waterfront restaurant. The surroundings were pretty and food was delicious. It was pricey with smaller portions for appetizers and salads but we really enjoyed it.

We Ubered down to dinner but decide to walk the 1.2 miles back. We love Key West for the people watching and it did not disappoint. We caught the tail end of a Pride parade. It was very busy on Duval Street

As we walked down Duval a magnet seemed to pull us into Irish Kevin’s, a favorite of ours, for a nightcap. We were tired from traveling so didn’t stay long.

We walked around the corner back to our place to call it a night. We have a few days here. Can’t get too crazy on the first.
