January 2023 – Labadee, Port Days & Formal Night

Written by Kim

Labadee was our last stop. This is Royal Caribbean’s private island at Haiti. We havent been here in a while and we’re happy to see some nice improvements. They updated the restrooms, added some walking paths, putting in a jetty to make a nice cove which now has a floating bar.

An outdoor bar near where they serve lunch
Floating bar – under the zip line

We had a relaxing day at the new cove by the floating bar. Unfortunately I could get up the stairs to the floating bar because the step was too high and I have no upper body strength but Alex got up and handed me my drinks in the water. Not a bad deal.

Walking on sea day

We love walking in the morning on sea days. My foot is still bothering me so I had to limit my walking a bit because I pushed it one day and was in pain the rest of the day. Any walk on the deck of a ship is a good one.

One of the sea days was formal night. We had the ultimate dining package with unlimited specialty restaurants so we went to Giovanni to see if we could have lobster from the dining room there with our dinner. They told us no we had to go to the dining room if we wanted lobster so we just had a meat & cheese board at Giovanni before heading to the MDR for the first time on Night 7. Lol

Meat & cheese board at Giovanni – not as good as Oasis class ships
Escargot in MDR – my favorite
French onion soup – was awful. Too salty, no onions, burnt cheese
Surf & turf – tiny lobster tail but it was good

I know this post is a little bit out of order but…..we had a great sunset leaving Labadee. Tomorrow we disembark and I’ll do a bit of an overall cruise review. Until next time …,
