January 2023 – St Thomas Magen’s Bay

Written by Kim

We knew it would busy with 4 ships in port so we hustled off the ship right when we docked and caught one of the first taxis to Magen’s Bay. We docked in Crown Bay so it was a bit of a longer ride across town and over the mountains but Alex had never been to Magen’s Bay. I had been there with friends on past trips when Alex golfed. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. The taxi was $15 per person each way plus $5 each to get into the park at the beach. Not the cheapest day but gorgeous

We were at the beach by 8:55 and it was really quiet. We scored 2 great loungers and selected a perfect spot right by the lifeguard stand do no one could put a chair beside us or in front of us. Two chairs and an umbrella was $40. Just perfect!

So calm and peaceful

The people came in droves – some with tours and some in taxis. It was nuts! Where did our peaceful beach go? The water was gorgeous and even though it was crowded it didn’t feel crowded (except if you needed to use the restroom). They had 4 ladies toilets for hundreds of people!

We spent the whole day on the beach. It was a gorgeous day. You could just walk in the water without any ledge or drop off. The water was a little cool at first but refreshing. The taxi back offered some nice views

2 Carnival ships in Haversite
Symphony pulling out but Grandeur still docked thank god!

We meandered our way back down a nearly empty pier with a quick stop for a selfie at the USVI sign.

Our dinner was at Izumi with some nice rolls. Yum!

Tomorrow is a sea day followed by our last stop Labadee. Until then….
