Every year in late January Dave Formicello’s Golf Club of NJ descends on Palm Beach Gardens for a 4 day golf tournament. For the last few years we’ve been planning a longer January trip with includes the Open. Alex has golfed in this tournament for 14 years.
The shenanigans at the Embassy are quite “special”. We always enjoy happy hour and parties by the pool. This year we also had a “Goldilocks” experience when one of the guys came a day early and was asleep in a room that he wasn’t expected in. Hotel security was called and we laughed quite hard when we realized it was someone from the group. There’s lots of side betting during the golf “where’s my $15?” WThere’s always some flight confusion. We missed you Ed when your flight was canceled and you couldn’t join us. Doug booked his flight for Monday instead of Sunday but luckily we had an empty couch. We enjoyed late night sandwiches and snacks at Grebels 704 Deli and wine, bourbon, and beer flowed while the laughter continues through the night. It’s always fun times with this crazy group.
Barbara won the tournament but Allie G got second place despite a stomach bug in the middle of the tournament. He gutted it out with great putting to save his rounds.
The weather was fantastic in high 70s and 80s and dry. As we were leaving PBG it was a bit cooler in the 60s. You never know what to expect in January.
I love coming to PBG because it gives me a chance to see our long time friends, Liz and Bruce who live down here. Unfortunately, Liz wasn’t feeling well so we didn’t play golf together but enjoyed a nice dinner to catch up. Palm Beach Gardens has some great restaurants and we had dinner at a few of our favorites – Prezzo, Spoto’s, Yardhouse and Outback
Now we’re heading to Hard Rock Hollywood to sleep in bed #8 for this trip.
